The Flying Does are targeting a positive result in the encounter, which is expected to serve as a morale booster as they prepare for their debut campaign in the Women’s Championship. Speaking ahead of the match, Rangers Women head coach, Mr. Favour Aneke Chinedu, explained that the fixture is part of the team’s broader plan to ensure full readiness before the start of the season. He noted that beyond chasing a win, the game presents an opportunity to integrate new players into the squad. “The kickoff of the new season is fast approaching. We have put the victories of the past behind us and are working towards achieving greater feats, with the aim of securing promotion to the top flight. The major aim of this friendly is not just to win, but to blend new players into the squad,” he said. The coach also revealed that the team is heading into the game without any major challenges, stressing the importance of focus and mentality. “We have no challenges at the moment. We just have to keep reminding ourselves why we are going for the Championship. This is Rangers, not just any football club,” he added. However, Aneke expressed concern over a few injury setbacks within the squad, while remaining optimistic about their recovery before the season begins. “We currently have some injury worries. The midfield trio of Onu Onyinyechi, Onyemaenu Chimdi, and Minka Praise are all sidelined due to injuries. But we expect their return before the Championship kicks off. Notwithstanding that, the team remains compact,” he stated. The gaffer concluded by calling on supporters to rally behind the team as they embark on their Championship journey. “I plead with all our fans to support us. Our girls may be debutants this year, but we are confident of ending the season with joy and laughter. The girls are ready and willing to give their all,” he said.
