The conference, which also marks the 70th birthday and 45 years of priestly service of Rev. Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike, brought together scholars, development experts and faith-based leaders from across the world to deliberate on issues of justice, peace and human development. Participating in one of the conference’s parallel sessions, the RIFC Foundation team presented a paper titled “Ethical Education, Socio-Economic and Political Inclusion, and Inter-Religious Harmony in Africa.” The presentation highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to advancing inclusive development through evidence-based approaches. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, a representative of the Foundation expressed enthusiasm over the opportunity to contribute to intellectual discourse at such a high-level gathering, noting that the engagement reflects the organisation’s expanding role beyond sports into education and social development. The paper emphasized the integration of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) as practical frameworks for fostering ethical consciousness, inclusive participation and peaceful coexistence across diverse communities. Observers at the session described the contribution as a shift from abstract advocacy to practical, research-driven interventions aimed at addressing Africa’s socio-economic and political challenges.
